North Island - Sky Dive & Vineyards Jan 2011

Sadly I couldn't do the sky dive this time so Dan took one for the team!

This place was like a sky dive factory there were loads of people all signing up to jump out of a plane (why?). No sooner than they'd taken the $'s Dan was kitted out in all the gear and shown a safety video...

Then he was off, no long goodbyes - I do hope the shoot opens!

Up, up and away...

Always taking a scenic photo opportunity, even while waiting for my darling man to jump out 0f a plane!

Luckily I didn't have to do the photography for the high part! View from the plane...

You can just see the plane...

Not looking too nervous...

Now I know it looks like a totally different day but I promise these are my pics from the ground, looks rather cloudy!

Very proud :)

After all that excitement there was no time to relax it was onto the next tourist spot, Huka Falls....

Then it was onto some hot springs, here's Dan ready for a dip...

Then it was time to find a somewhere to camp.......nice spot

Next morning it was off to Napier, which was one of our favourite Cities, just loved the palm trees...

The Art Deco Architecture...

Napier is also known for it's Vineyards however we knew of a couple of special vineyards we just had to visit in Gisborne so we hit the road via a nice beach to get booked into a tour...

There are some great tours where you hire the bikes and a map and you take yourself on the Vineyard tour, so we booked some bikes and off we went....

The first Vineyard. This chap was just brilliant and let us test all his wines providing various foods that complimented the wine, 'mmmm I'm getting some apricot and a touch of oak'!

Then is was onto the next Vineyard 'Brunton Road' one very close to our hearts...

The wines were amazing and I loved the way they presented them...

Being the backpackers that we are we brought a picnic so stopped off for lunch, Dan also brought some Summer Ales in case the wine didn't quite hit the spot!

The next Vineyard was also quite spesh to us (although I must add it was quite a long ride after a few glasses of wine!) Dan's best friend is called Chris Kirkpatrick, couldn't believe this was just down the road from Brunton Road!

We then headed back to the first vineyard and had some nibbles as the guy was so friendly and hadn't charged us for any of the tastings :)

And on the way back to the Van the Sun finally came out yay!

After a long day of fun at the Vineyards we took a stroll down to the beach to watch the sunset....

I can't take the credit for this one as I'm in the pic!

That's it for now next time we'll be in Rotorua for White Water Rafting and Lady Knox Geyser!
