So we bid a very fond farewell to Australia and headed off to New Zealand, Auckland to meet up with our best travel buddies from back home Corinne, Rach and their new travel bud Edel...
After a lot of girlie chatter (poor Dan!) we headed out to check the Auckland night life....
Someone mentioned Bra = free drink I'll say no more....
I think Dan missed the point....
Australian Life Guard!
I found a drink that matched my top far more fun!!
Met these guys the one in the middle had recently done some work re-furbing Fatso's on Prince Of Wales Road - small world ay!
The next day was Auckland day so we headed out, after 8 weeks of sun and hot weather the mild climate felt rather cold so we didn't stay out for long, but long enough to do some Lipton Ice Tea modelling :)
We only had a few days in Auckland together (the girls were about to fly out to South America and Australia and us to Wellington) for out last night out together we decided to go for a meal which was a real novelty for the girls who had been living on packet pasta and 'gurn' aka boxes of wine for the past 3 months!!
Afterwards we headed to the same club/bar as the night before, this time it was free drink if you sang karaoke, we didn't need anymore encouragement!!
Dan kept himself busy....
Laying down some moves on the Dance floor -always time to pose for a pic!
Random shot of the Sky tower on the way to the 24 hour burger king (how cool is that - 24hr BK that is!?)
Up in the morning and we're off on a free tour of Auckland, I was quite happy about this until they mentioned the bridge walk (gulp!). First stop view from one of their 52 Volcano's
Then unfortunately it was off to Auckland Bridge....
As you probably know I DO NOT like heights so when they gave us hard hats and harnesses I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!
As we walked along attached to the safety rail it slowly got higher and higher and if you looked down you could see the water through the grates - gulp! When we finally made it to our destination we got to watch crazy people do bungee jumps (could it get any better!?), I decided I felt safer on this step....check out my white knuckles!
Here I am having a mini breakdown at the thought of walking backa again and my dear friends are taking pictures of me - very supportive!
Here we are setting off to walk back trying to look brave - may I add it was VERY windy which made it hard to walk in a straight line thankfully we had a harness!
This was the view not that I saw it I daren't look up to busy focusing on my happy place!
Cripes Kate, if I had a cup of tea for every time you had a beer I'd have a caffeine problem. Still jealously reading of your exploits. Stuart
ReplyDeleteIt's purely research Stuart, I'll be compiling a report and presentation at the end of my trip :) hope you and family are doing ok? x
